How to Use this Site
This website is organized to meet the needs of both the new and the more experienced visitor. If you are new to the financial aid process you may wish to begin your exploration by visiting the links on the left side of the Financial Aid home page.

Parent Loan Information (PLUS)
Parents may be interested in borrowing a loan to help meet the costs of attending college. Parents of dependent students may borrow a Federal PLUS Loan. This loan may be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board, and to help with the students' personal or miscellaneous expenses. The PLUS Loan is NOT need-based, so parents of any income level can apply.

The University of Oklahoma requires students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive a Federal PLUS Loan. While a student does not have to show "financial need" for the Federal PLUS loan, the FAFSA information will help evaluate eligibility for other aid, including some institutional scholarships. Students must also be making "Satisfactory Academic Progress" for parents to borrow a Federal PLUS Loan. Students and parents are encouraged to complete the FAFSA on-line at www.FAFSA.ed.gov.

How Financial Aid at OU is processed.

Financial Aid Services notifies students via their Official OU Email account.

After a student is admitted to OU, he or she is able to activate their official OU Email account. Click here for more information to activate your account.

Once the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application is received by OU Financial Aid Services (FAS), the student is sent a letter in the mail notifying them that future FAS correspondence will normally be sent to the students' OU email account. Information is provided in that letter how to access their OU email.

Once we have both the FAFSA application and the students' admission to OU, we will send a request for additional information directly to the students OU email account, if anything else is needed. If no additional information is needed and the student is eligible for aid we will send the OU-FAN (Financial Aid Notification) to the students OU email.

You should make arrangements with your son or daughter to have them handle their financial aid matters immediately and to forward a copy of their financial aid email to you. If the student cannot forward the email to you, they may print and mail the information to you from their email. Note: this arrangement must be worked out within your family. Financial Aid Services cannot forward student email to the parent.

NOTE: The financial aid process is ultimately the responsibility of the student.

Tuition Estimator

To find out about how much it will cost for your son or daughter to attend OU click here for the Tuition Estimator. Note: The Estimator is normally updated in early to mid July each year if there are any increases in tuition, fees or housing costs.
