Entrance Counseling

Federal regulations require federal student loan borrowers to complete entrance counseling before borrowing. Entrance counseling provides information about borrowing, including information about interest rates and fees, deferments, grace period, repayments, and your rights and responsibilities, etc. Entrance counseling is in a quiz format; information is presented then questions must be answered. At the end of the session be sure to print your confirmation page for your records. You may also get an email from the U.S. Department of Education that your entrance counseling has been successfully completed and sent to OU.

The link to Entrance Counseling is below.

What's new for 2012-13?
The federal government will no longer provide the interest subsidy for graduate/law Student Federal Direct Stafford Loans. This is a change in the federal regulations.

How do I know if I have to complete Entrance Counseling?

OU Financial Aid Services sends an email request for Missing Information to the student's OU email if entrance counseling is required. Log into oZONE and go to the Money tab to the Financial Aid Missing Information link. If entrance counseling is required, a link is provided. Note the link is also listed below.

What happens after I complete Entrance Counseling?

Approximately 2-3 working days after completing entrance counseling, OU Financial Aid Services will update your financial aid Missing Information link in oZONE with the date received. This is required for your loans to continue processing. Be sure to log into oZONE and check your completed Entrance Counseling has been received. Contact FAS after 3 days if your Entrance Counseling is not showing as received.
